just got home from the press conference at boat quay, i must say that this is the real thing in life, an eye opener. the CEO of the singapore branch of standard chartered bank was there to grace the occasion which marks the launch of preparations for next year's IRB 7s. the thing is...so THIS IS WHAT A PRESS CONFERENCE IS LIKE...gee there really is more to life than academics ain't it? the CEO talked about networking, that is essential, key to success and to tell you the truth you can't work hard at it. so good luck to those who only know how to get 4As and 2 S paper distinctions and those who beg for em too. i must say we were pretty useless though, just standing in the corner looking like idiots in our nice new bright red addidas jerseies, ordering unlimited cups of coke and orange juice, and picking at the finger food. the saints guys praba satish n sidney plus alvin and i were just eating and eating, after the press conference we just sat down n ate some more pies and the nice bread things downed with more coke and orange juice. had a chat with the coaches and realize that i really got to pick up on my fitness training, like real soon..next week...i mean jon even offered us the use of club facilities which means free gym and cold pool treatment..have to make good use of it. cannot go to KL and lose to...*gasp* kaninabeichaojibai malaysia. that's unthinkable. we haf to try to beat Chinese Taipei. bottom line is...train like fuck.

met wang lao shi at the orchard bus stop on the way home too. had a nice short chat with her. it always nice talking to her, reminds me of the chinese high days and how fun lessons used to be. yes the past. nostalgia. i guess in life you gain some & you lose some. just look at me now - prime example. gave up all the great benefits of the communist classroom for rugby and have to end up fighting and gasping for my own survival in the pretentious classroom which is complemented by certain *ahem* *ahem* of doubtful quality. whether it'll all be worth it - hinges on what will happen next year. its summed up in 3 words, gold and glory. and no one, not even hewhoshallnotbenamedbecauseofhisfuckedupattitudeandlackofteamspirit will spoil it.

i wonder why we never realize that in actual fact the SATs are so much more important than the stupid promotional exams. its all that matters for entrance to an American university, and A level grades don't count for fuck. i think if i do well i'll immediately apply for my universities and seek to defer the entrance later..so that'll mean that i'll be admitted even before i take A lvls. *shrug* can sense a great deal of idealism swelling up again... nowadays i doubt if its such a good thing after all. cynicism and vindictiveness does seem more akin to me than a bubbly cheerful and dreamy impression.

if there's 2 things i'll remember from the torrid 2 years in JC, its not the sickening hours spent with the greatly pretenious and dreaming people in the classroom ( there are exceptions! ) or all the nonsense that i have to put up with just cause i'm a fucking student of rJc. (i mean...hey i wear the crest with pride but sometimes they don't really care about that..i mean just look at the many examples around us) it'll be all my close rugby buds n seniors and this batch of amazing friends that i have who always hang out at the first table, maybe a handful of exceptional classmates. the guys went to eat al azhar today after the soccer match. had a good time just eating good stuff like all the prata nasi goreng milo dinosaur etc. etc. and talking cock. alvin loke told photos shall upload if i ever get a hold of it. plain simple fun that i can't seem to have with my classmates. argh most of em, thankfully not all of em, stupid humanities scholars all vying for this S that S...next year will be that scholarship this scholarship...chao ji bai man...seriously reassess your lives man...most these people i talk about don't even have a decent cca maybe that's why...for the exceptional few who do they also spend their time with these denegrates and well you know end up the same way. gee then what happened to the team being your 2nd/3rd family n stuff? i guess denegrates don't understand any of this. someone once said, "if there's a difference between him and i, it would be that i have a better understanding with whoever's playing in front behind or beside me than him." understanding has to be almost psychic. well it obviously doesn't matter to them. shit man i don't want to dwell on how pathetic my class is but i just can't help it, pretentious, underserving losers, damn if only the guys were not just my friends but my classmates too i mean how cool would that be. to e guys, cheers. many more great outings to come i hope.

its just fucked up to have to constantly transcend between 2 worlds, one fighting for survival the other fighting for excellence. why do we have to have so many discrepancies? but to question that is to question human nature, an impossibility. sigh. i'll just hope for the best for you peeps.

played against SRC today for the under19s. totally shit match that we really should have won. sort of let ourselves down with our mistakes. probably our own faults too cause there're a few of us who haven't been going for training. well all that's going to change now. i'm going to train doubly hard, its going to form the foundation for next year's season. since school's a waste of time for me these days, especially when the lessons are over. tuesday thursday sunday....aye aye aye. no more nonsense man. the books are out and the time for training is in. at least it'll keep me sane and hopefully away from distractions.

just a note. i realize people from a certain school are really a great deal more all arounded than those from schools...no its factories that produce 4As 2 Spaper Ds and scholars. they know the real value of education is not in mugging. its also about experiencing. but then again, most people from there are rich enough to pay their own way through an expensive university education. well i don't know its just me with weird thoughts, think in some of the other rj classes apart from mine its also something like that, just that i don't know it.
